In ancient times, wildcats were fierce carnivorous hunters. And unlike dogs, who have undergone centuries of selective breeding, modern cats are genetically very similar to ancient cats. How did these solitary, fierce predators become our sofa sidekicks? Eva-Maria Geigl traces the domestication of the modern house cat.

i guess the original two cat breeds separately formed other breeds we know today. the Asian variant resulted in breeds like the Persian and the Bengal and the Egyptian variant produced breeds like the Abyssinian and possibly the Sphinx, now the sphinx breed is unusual because it exists due to a mutation where the kittens are born with little to no hair, these breeds must be kept in warm environment and must be bathed regularly due to the oils secreted on their bare skin.

House cats are domesticated of course. Real wild cats who live in the wildness act far different from house cats. Even street cats who never had contact with human in life trust human more than wild cats

    Two days ago.
ME to my cat Zelda, an Arabian Mau : Stop drinking my water! She stops and stares at me.
    30 seconds later
ME: Get your paws out of my water glass! She stops and stares at me.
    30 seconds later
Stop trying to push my water glass off the dresser! She stops and stares at me as I get up and save my water glass.
Next morning I am awakened by a thunk at 7;45: Zelda looks triumphantly at my glass of water on the floor.
