How megacities are changing the map of the world | Parag Khanna

Posted on October 28, 2020 by admin

“I want you to reimagine how life is organized on earth,” says global strategist Parag Khanna. As our expanding cities grow ever more connected through transportation, energy and communications networks, we evolve from geography to what he calls “connectography.” This emerging global network civilization holds the promise of reducing pollution and inequality — and even overcoming geopolitical rivalries. In this talk, Khanna asks us to embrace a new maxim for the future: “Connectivity is destiny.”

This makes me to want to rule out any possibility of yet another full- fledged war between India and China.

Because a country has so many alies (which isn't a bad thing), when ever there is tension with another country, many other countries join in to help either side. Today, rivalry between two countries is always called the next world war, because of how a country is connected and supported by others. I really like this connectivity idea and hope it dosnt lead to a major war between several countries just because two countries have rivalry

Paid subtle propaganda to show chinese supremacy. Taiwanese would never accept communist supremacy, the belt and road initiative is just another form of neo-colonialism, and chinese superclusters are all breeding grounds of poverty, diseases and state surveillance – nothing good happening there.

A good speech. I love this kind of TED-talks.
But there are two things need to be mentioned : at 16:38, he used the wrong map with China, India and Pakistan's controversial borders. Besides, at 16:54, he mentioned China and Taiwan side by side, but we all know that Taiwan is still part of China,no matter whether it is under the jurisdiction of ROC or PRC.

So many western expressions “ bury the hatchet” , “ Humpty Dumpty…” etc etc. that perhaps the message gets lost in countries where English is not the dominant language?

He's both right and not right. This exists and is a force…but do to are nation states and the inherent divided there. A national border can mean tariffs, regulations, and wage differences. That can't be ignored. Nor can the connection, which has an inescapable effect.

Globalists tend to ignore the human side of human society. Free humans can't be governed globally. As a survival mechanism, we have evolved to engage in tribalism and regardless of our efforts to control that aspect of our nature, it will always creep in on us where and when we aren't expecting it. It is not politics that needs lines on a map it is human nature that requires them.

This is very utopian, ignoring the antagonistic relations between the different imperialist powers and regional capitalist nations. Whether you like it or not, the lawful workings of capitalism is leading us towards WWIII, same thing that led to WWI and WWII. Read V.I. Lenin's "Imperialism; The Highest Stage of Capitalism".

To get the type of unitary planned connectivity Khanna is talking about is only possible through worldwide socialist revolution.

Does this guy really believe islam is just going to evaporate from its goals of world influence because of connectivity? No. Its going to make it even easier for that and other cults of the world like communism to infiltrate smaller democracies. Democracies work when the people have common goals and culture. China is out for china and nobody else. It has no aspirations to adapt western cultures but to replace them with authoritarian social orders. The more money we give them the more likely we go to the guillotine. This dude sounds happy that the west is doomed.

This is great for those rich socialist bastards. But the goal is to control all the world's best places and land by the useless hordes in unsustainable filthy megacity states living hundreds of miles from peaceful rural agricultural resource rich regions.
Sorry but China isn't taking out resource rich Western Canada and its small population. China and other overpopulated countries think that they are just going to immigrate into these areas and eventually dislocate and eliminate the old order and their wealth. Forget it. This guy is full of SH=T. And so is the rose coloured glass sitting in the audience. trudeau must have been writing his notes
