Minions people… So Toads will be the new minions
Oceans 11 with Pokémon
Yes I want a Nintendo cinematic universe,
A smash Bros cinematic universe even.
The movie that fucking boring and barely made it's money back
This is what I've been saying!
I don't want to see a Halo movie staring Master Chief. I want to see a Halo movie in the style of War of the World about Sadie from the hidden side story from ODST.
I don't want to see any movie based on the games with stories we've already played. I want a new story to enrich what I've already played.
Does Chris Klein ever blink in that movie?
3:41 ironman 1 2 and 3 basicly modeled after batman begins and dark knight
i mean shit, "best video game movie ever" definitely goes to phoenix wright
Pokemon was designed from the ground up as a multimedia franchise, so detective pikachu isn’t really a video game movie it’s just a movie that has ties to a game series which is part of the wider product line up the company offers.
Seems a little nit-picky but it’s a huge difference conceptually from turning something designed as a game into another medium especially one as passive as film.
Iron Man 1 worked because it was well written. The sequels? Eh. If Iron Man 2 or 3 had been the first movie it never would have taken off.
You know a Luigi's Mansion movie might actually work.
I'd say stick with K.I.S.S. keep it simple stupid and also stay true to why people love the thing in the first place. I think a good way to make a Mario movie would be to have him be a plumber in Peach's castle. Shit goes down, Bower shows up, peach gets kidnapped. Mario and Luigi do a fairly standard hero's journey kind of plot to get her back. Along the way they travel through areas that pay homage to classic Mario worlds and levels then meet and adopt Yoshi. No weird de-evolution guns or parallel realities required.
They could literally just copy what Marvel did. Just have Nintendo hire a studio to make a few solo films that are childish and fun. Kids will go see it, some adults will go see it for nostalgia, and in the end credits put a giant hand ominously picking something up, or sorting trophies of the character in the film, and show many other characters not in the film. When you have 4 or 5 Ok to pretty good movies, release Smash Bros The movie, then go all out. All the characters from all the places doing all the things. Go from there. Most importantly though, make sure the solo films can play out as solo films, do not outwardly suggest an extended universe until the end credits. No one wants to be baited into seeing an extended universe, but we don't mind if you make a good solo film first, and then have an after credits to say "Maybe…"
Supposedly, Dwayne Johnson was one of the voices considered for Pikachu. So close!
a movie about poison WOULD be cool
Pokémon had the advantage of being designed from the ground up as a cross media property, and that still had to go with a minor spin-off. Games and movies are very different mediums, it's always gunna be difficult.
Taking a character from a videogame , building that character up in a really good self contained movie that will ultimately take that character to a sequel that goes all in on the video game stuff , is a cool concept. Legend of chun li shit the bed when trying out that concept, but its a concept that can still work in the hands of better filmmakers. Not seen detective pikachu yet, but it apparently gets this formula right which is cool.
How about a movie about a teenager inheriting his dads gym and the teen learning what it takes to be a good gym leader and how to control his dads powerful gym pokemon he also inherited.
A crime caper movie with Jessie, James & Meowth would be pretty cool.
Yoshi story!
Do that game as an entry point into Mario sounds brilliant
Please keep making videos like this. Every time you rant about "The Alt-Right" or "gamergate" I cringe into another dimension. But videos like this are fantastic!
OMG I'd kill for an amazing half life movie from Alex's pov
Gimme a fuckin Poison movie
Flippin' Team Rocket heist movie! Get on it, people! Though. How will they ever pull off Jessie's hair…
These intros are way too long
I’ve got 2 Team Rocket solo movie requirements:
1) Jessie and James: make one a comedy legend and the other ridiculously attractive. Example Amy Poehler and Zac Efron or Margot Robbie and Will Ferrell.
2) Meowth is now Danny Devito. He wasn’t cast as Detective Pikachu because THIS is his role
One of the best video game movies?
Probably not.
One of the best live action video game movie?
Yes!
Yeah if I was to do a Sonic movie, I would start with Amy Rose as the main character, Amy is a way more interesting character to build a movie around. Fan-girl want to be hero acquires a magic hammer and teams up with thier idol only to become a linchpin in saving the world. Perfect hero's journey and it just Sonic be cool hero fantasy character he is.
>pronounces Pokemon as "poe-kay-mon"
oh no
At least that blank slate beat the pokemon league 👀
Bob your videos have been quite good lately. Feels like you’re focusing less on negativity and just talking about things that interest you.
And killer Malibu Stacy reference at the end.
Wait, did… did people actually like Rampage?
How is the rock not playing a graveler or something
Just a thought
Fine, I'll play this game.
Tales the movie: A young fox loses his parents due to a rising robot army and finds a surrogate brother in Sonic the hedge hog. Tales has to teach himself science in order to help Sonic defeat the evil Doctor Robotnic.
Toad: With his princess kidnapped by the evil Bowser, a tiny mushroom man seeks out heroes to help save his monarch…………and the first guys he come across are two plumbers.
Roll: A robot girl helps her scientist father rebuild her robot brother into a super hero. Can she follow this incredible journey?
I feel like I just broke open 3 empty piniatas
Spoiler alert the rock isn't in it
Can that be how escape to the movies works from now on
Detective was fine but I did want something like the recent anime retellings of red and blue
For some time now, I have wanted a Team Rocket movie like the live-action Boris and Natasha movie. That's right, live action Boris and Natasha movie. Look it up.
I remember Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li (but only because FoldableHuman made a video about it a couple months ago)
A Team Rocket crime comedy movie might be the best idea moviebob ever had!
So, a thought I’ve always wanted to make; I’ve always felt like fighting games have always been a bad idea for movies. Since they all have to have connecting characters and the stories behind them are usually just tournament nonsense, well, they just never made sense to me as a place for a cinematic story.
Along these lines, I actually wondered the other day if Luigi's Mansion would make for a good first movie in a marioverse…
Stop trying to make Rampage a thing Bob, it’s never going to happen.
You would have a better argument for Prince of Persia or the forgettable Tomb Raider film.
Can you, please, finally remove that unnecessary long intro? we always skip it. You can do what Snes Drunk does and have a 2-second intro with his name and that's it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAQUAtFcSDI
There have been LOTS of good videogame movies.
It's just that most of them are anime.
"…or you could just take the main character and give them a different hat."
So what you're saying is we need a tanooki suit mario movie.
Coming soon
SUPER SMASH BROS the movie
Hmm, a Poison movie, you say?
The Rock isn't in it? Who'd they get to play Geodude?
Mega Man Cinematic Universe. It would be the most epic thing ever. (Especially if they did the Zero games!)
