Indian doesn't have the dealer network. Do you know how you expand your dealer network? Build exciting bikes and steal market share away from a sleeping giant. Dealer network expands to meet demand, and shrinks to it as well. C'mon HD. No power shield, electronically locking bags, liquid cooled motor, ride Modes. I know you don't want to seem like you're being pushed in a direction your competitors are going, but is that really wise. Answer these challenges and I'm sure that folks would love to stay brand loyal.

The figures are impressive but as I said on your last video, we shop with our eyes and no matter how good those stats are, I need to like how the thing looks. The Challenger just doesn’t do it for me where the current Road Glide does and I just wouldn’t consider the bikes from the other manufacturers you mentioned at all. Props to Indian though, it’s a lovely bike, just not for me.

Seems to me it's more similar to the Kawasaki Vaquero than a Road Glide.

Gears & Gadgets, thank you for giving an honest video about the Indian challenger. I have seen Adam Sandoval's video as well. I was looking at a Goldwing and the F6B version. But Honda made the trunk and bags to small. And honestly I would prefer and American made bike verses a metric. Although right now I own a metric because it is my first bike. But, I am looking for honest feedback about something other than HD. I like HD but, shirts and calendars are not what make a bike. I like the blur the lines idea and giving me another option to think about. All in all, great video. Thank you.

The only thing that Indian has in common with Harley is category and overall shape and even that shape is a stretch, so copy huh no. Being an overhead cam it’s not going to sound as good as a Harley but if you ride and pick a bike purely on sound, your not a true motorcycle enthusiast

I currently own a road king. 6'2" and was planning on a Road Glide being my next bike. Im definitely going to test ride this. Ive been pretty solidly a Harley guy for a while but if the Challenger is better than the Road King then I'll get it. Really just that simple. I work hard for my money. Im not going to buy the lesser of the two bikes just for brand loyalty. HD needs to step up their game if they want to earn my money. Not step up the peer pressure.

Needs a reverse gear, hydraulic clutch. Brand loyalty is taking rides in hearses and wheelchairs more every year. I'm 71, still riding (Stratoliner) but H/D went bye bye for me, stranding me on too many roads waiting for the tow truck. I loved them, still do, but they HATED ME!

"Harley-Davidson" should consider changing their name to "Davidson" because there aren't any "Harley" families left in the lineage only Davidson's.

I just can't get behind the looks of the fairing, but that's me. I'd like to see an option without it. I think it would look like a beefed up scout. Tank is the same shape as my 60.

I liked your informational video. Thanks. I am a Harley guy who has had four different touring bikes. I agree with you that Harley touring bikes have to step up their game, for example liquid cooling is crucial for the motor and the rider. A 114 ci motor air cooled while riding in Florida 95 degree heat can be compared to sitting on a 400 degree oven. Yeah when the bike moves over 40 mph you hardly notice that radiant killer heat, but shutting a cylinder down at a light down here does nothing from a comfort stand point. And I-am fed up with having to pay for items that should be standard equipment. And going CVO with hd is not even practical. 49000 dollars for a new Tri Glide! C’mon H D wake up!

Harley will never go away but Indian has definitely been chipping away on Harley's market. I own 2 Indians and get compliments on both my bikes every time I take them out. The design of the engine and the look of the bikes are exceptional. The Challenger will definitely be a game changer. I'm looking forward to Indian bringing out more models and designs. That is the one thing Harley does have on Indian is the extensive amount of models they have but quality and features… Indian gives one more bang for the buck. Great video. Can't agree more.

I agree at some point Harley is going to have to go water cooled with the baggers. physics!!!!  and who cares if someone copies another manufacturer. sort of a compliment ya know. but it is good for us riders the competition.

I love Harley Davidson. I grew up on Harley's and have always owned one since I started riding. I just wish the dealers around me weren't pompous assholes… because of them I've ventured outside HD and realized, there are a lot of nice bikes out there. Most are more affordable, as comfortable and have better customer service than Harley… I'm my area anyway.

And yes, I am aware of the Revolution Max HD is going to release in a few of their 2020 models (an improvement beyond the Revolution 1250? AWESOME!), but will the Old school Hell's angel wanabe crowd respect- much less accept- it? Doubtful; it's basically a clash between outlaw image tradition verses superior engineering. And who won that battle in 2017? HD is DOOMED!

Cudos to Indian for raising the bar with an American made liquid cooled V-TWIN Cruiser. Too bad Harley ended their masterpiece in 2017; the V-ROD MUSCLE (I own 2 of them). Competition is good: Chevy trucks wouldn't be as good as they are if they didn't have to compete with Ford. This Indian Challenger could be a game changer; it has tho potential of becoming the F-150 of V-TWINS. I hope so, it might force HD to bring back the V-ROD.

I’m honestly disappointed with how Indian seems to be dropping the large front and rear fenders. They seem to be Harleying up the Indian. 🙁
